Bad breath is an obnoxious and embarrassing problem. The characteristic odor is unpleasant for anyone - let alone a potential lover or date. The good news is that it can be easily cured quite simply in most cases, where the root cause is poor dental hygiene and bacterial growth.
Bad breath can be caused by a three main different factors.

1 - External Factors such as eating certain foods, alcohol and smoking.
Foods such as garlic and spicy Indian foods, are an obvious source of bad breath. The type of food eaten can affect the food chemistry of the mouth. Saliva picks up odors from food within a few hours of digestion. Odors are strongest from carbohydrates - sugars, starches and cellulose, less strong from proteins, and virtually non-existent from fats. Once you know the source of the bad breath, just eliminate the foods, or plan social events around your intake. If everyone in your party eats the same foods, they are unlikely to notice the smell on your breath. Alcohol causes the mouth to dry, and the sugar feeds the dental bacteria. Alcohol also interferes with your digestion system.
Smoking has an obvious effect on the breath. Smoking keeps the mouth drier and decreases production of saliva which will make the bad breath worse. Smell and ashtray and you get the idea. Milk intolerance is often a source of bad breath.

2 -Many health conditions can cause bad breath.
Pneumonia or bronchitis, chronic sinus infections, postnasal drip, diabetes, chronic acid reflux, and liver or kidney problems can cause bad breath. Poor digestive health if often a source of bad breath. When poorly digested food passes into the intestines starts to putrefy it can give a foul eggy type gas which rises up and causes the bad breath. This problem is particularly acute in older people who have used their enzyme store and have poor stomach acids that are too weak to digest the food. Another common source is candida or a poor balance of gut bacteria. Again putrefying food remains in the gut and comes back up to say hello.

3 The overwhelming majority of bad breath is caused by bacteria in the mouth.
Get rid of the bacteria and you get rid of the smell. It's that simple.

How to Find out what Kind of Bad breath You Have?
Just answer the following questions and you can begin to identify the source of the problem.

Question 1 - Is your bad breath persistent?
If yes, then you are likely to have a dental problem or an underlying digestive or other health condition. If no, then you need to work on what causes the bad breath. In rare cases, such as milk or dairy disorders, you may constantly eat the offending substance. Eliminate the worst offenders - milk, dairy, alcohol, garlic, spices, etc, for a period and see what happens.
If you bad breath comes and goes, it's likely its caused by external factors which you can regulate by trial and error. If you have permanent bad breath, move onto the next question.

Question 2 - Do you have a digestive condition, poor digestion, gas, bloating, skin rashes, dry skin, brittle hair insomnia, poor nail growth, general fatigue?

If you do, your breath is likely due to an digestive disorder. If you suspect a chronic condition then you should address these issues with a doctor. If you don't suffer from an underlying health condition and you have good digestive health, the overwhelming balance of probability, is that you can a dental condition caused by dental bacteria spreading in the mouth.

How to Eliminate Bad Breath
The bad breath in the mouth is caused by bacteria that feeds of sugar and gather in the dental plaque. To eliminate the bacteria just mix baking soda with hydrogen peroxide and use a dental irrigator to throughly clean the whole mouth including the tongue, tooth pockets, and in between teeth. If you don't have an dental irrigator just brush on the mixture and leave as much on for as long as you can. The taste is not so pleasant so easiest and best to use the irrigator. This mixture will kill off lots and lots of the bacteria. Baking soda is well know at eliminating the most foul smell imaginable. Once you have the bacteria count down, you should notice a tangible immediate improvement very quickly - in a matter of days. The bacteria can re-colonize in the mouth very quickly, so once you have the bacteria under control with an irrigation morning and night, you can relax the schedule to just at night, and then once or twice a week. Don't also neglect flossing and your normal tooth brushing.
In some cases the bad breath can also be produced by an abscess which needs to be treated as quickly as possible by your dentist. You may also have periodontal disease - characterised by a eggy sulphur smell that never goes away. You should always see your dentist and have your condition checked out, and ensure it is not more serious.

Make sure you drink lots of water which keeps the mouth moist and stimulates the production of saliva.

Avoid alcohol based mouthwashes that are common in drug stores and all the mints, breath fresheners etc. They call contain sugars which will feed the dental bacteria and just mask the smell.

Avoid sugary foods and make sure you maintain you dental flossing and brushing routine. You can buy baking soda based toothpastes and other toothpastes with herbs with are anti-bacterial. If you do eat sugary foods swish with plenty of water.

Oil pulling also acts to kill bacteria and stimulates the saliva glands. Just use a teaspoon of sesame, olive or coconut oil and pull it through the teeth repeatedly for five minutes or so until the oil turns white. Spit out the oil and rinse the mouth carefully to remove all the oil that will filled with toxins. Dispose of the white oil carefully.

By following these easy steps you will most likely eliminate your bad breath and no longer have to suffer from this embarassing condition.
