Restoration:

A dental restoration is any type of dental treatment that aims to restore the tooth through the use of dental material back to as close as possible to its original state.

Common dental restorations include fillings, crowns, root canals, and veneers.

Dental restorations are divided into two types.

Direct Restorations - where a soft or malleable dental material is added to a suitably prepared tooth, so that it can be molded and press into shape, for example in the case of a filling.

InDirect Restorations - where a impression of the tooth is taken so that an external material can be constucted and placed into position using a suitable method, for example a post and crown.
