WaterPick WP 450 and WP360W Review

wild smile bracesUltra Cordless Dental Water Jet WP-450
This is a small handheld irrigator which uses a rechargeable battery. It is the 'upgrade to the WP- 360 which has been widely criticized for its poor performance. Is is commonly available and widely distributed in many stores and also on-line. Although it does have some neat features - the wireless recharging unit, this one is best avoided. You will be very frustrated with this unit and end up probably junking it. The main problem is the handheld unit is clunky to operate, the jet is difficult to get lined up with the mouth, and the tank is far too small. You get about 30 seconds of water jet with the tank at high pressure. The low pressure is too low. You will have to refill this two or three times to use it properly. If you are thinking it may make a good travel device because of the wireless charger - it does not. It only has a cheap 110v transformer which makes it difficult when travelling out of the USA.

Large Tank
- The tank is way too small at 4 oz or 120 ml. You will probably need to refill several times which is a pain. Its also difficult to fill if you have a small sink.
Range of Pressure The water pressure has just two settings and is not particularly powerful. At its most powerful, you go through the small tank very quickly.
Range of Tips The irrigator does come with tips for brace wearers, and those with periodontal pockets. However, the choice of tips is irrelevant because they don't fit securely! The tips swivel under the water pressure, which can lead to water flying around the bathroom unless your careful. This unit did a good job spraying the bathroom and my face, but not so good in the mouth.
Reliable and Quiet The build quality is poor and its not quiet - not loud either but certainly not quiet. Consumers on amazon have reported poor battery performance. The unit we tested charged fine, but was not used for any length of time due to the small tank and ergonomics. Consumers on Amazon have reported leaks and corrosion on the on-off switch
Customer Care and Warranty - 2 year warranty.

Pro's - Portable unit
Con's - Tank way too small, jets swivel and spray water everywhere, poor ergonomics, poor pressure.
Rating 2/10 Very poor - possible use as portable unit though there are better travel irrigators out there. Avoid this one.

Waterpik WP-360W Hand-held Cordless Rechargeable Dental Water Jet
This is the standard version of the Water Pik that you are most likely to see in the stores. Like the WP- 450 its a wireless device that you plug in and charge a rechargeable battery. The major shortcoming is poor build quality - leading to very poor battery life and problems due to corrosion caused by poor sealing of the electric components - and a exceptionally small tank size. This unit is all but unusable.
Large Tank - The tank is way too small at less than 4 oz or 120 ml. You will probably need to refill several times which is a pain. Its also difficult to fill if you have a small sink.
Range of Pressure The water pressure is just too weak.
Range of Tips The irrigator does come with two heads
Reliable and Quiet Exceptionally poor
Customer Care and Warranty - 2 year warranty.

Pro's - Portable unit
Con's - Exceptionally small tank and poor batter make this unacceptable.
Rating 1/10 Don't.
